Overview
We acquired the Houston refinery, as well as facilities in Texas City and Krotz Springs, when we purchased Basis Petroleum from Salomon Inc. in 1997. This mid-sized plant is valuable to our refining system because of the variety of its output and its consistent productivity.

Output
A wide range of petroleum products is produced at the refinery, including approximately 60,000 BPD of gasoline and 35,000 BPD of distillates.  Its processing capabilities consist primarily of medium sour crudes and low-sulfur resids. The refinery’s major units include:
  • 90,000-BPD crude distillation complex
  • 65,000-BPD fluid catalytic cracking complex
  • 25,000-BPD distillate hydrotreaters
  • 17,000-BPD ROSE unit
  • 13,000-BPD Iso-octene/alkylation unit
  • 11,500-BPD naphtha reformer
Location/Access
The Houston refinery is located on the Houston Ship Channel, with deepwater access for off-loading certain feedstocks. In addition, the facility has access to major product pipelines, including Colonial, TEPPCO and Explorer.
