Fast Facts
- Total throughput capacity of approximately 170,000 barrels per day (BPD)
- Products include conventional gasoline, reformulated gasoline (RFG), Arizona clean burning gasoline (CBG), jet fuels, ultra low-sulfur diesel and asphalts
- Employs approximately 470 individuals
- Located on 800 acres
- Commissioned in 1933, the refinery has had several major upgrades, and its throughput capacity has continued to grow over the years. Recent upgrades include revamps and additions to allow Tier II gasoline and diesel production.
Overview
Our McKee refinery is a key hub for our mid-continent operations and maintains important connections to facilities throughout the south central United States. The refinery sends product via pipeline to north Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Oklahoma. It relies on a varying blend of domestically produced crude oil for feedstock supplemented with purchases of foreign sweet and light sour crudes.
Output
With a throughput capacity of 170,000 BPD, the McKee refinery produces conventional gasoline, RFG, CBG gasoline and ultra low-sulfur diesel that meets governmental specifications for on-road use. Key units at the refinery include:
- 60,000-BPD crude unit one
- 104,000-BPD crude unit two
- 55,000-BPD fluid catalytic cracking unit >LI>40,000-BPD diesel hydrotreater
- 30,000-BPD hydrocracker
- 29,000-BPD continuous catalyst regeneration reformer
- 18,000-BPD semi-regen reformer
- 16,500-BPD propane deasphalting unit
- 10,000-BPD alkylation unit
- 2,000-BPD iso-octene unit
- 100-ton-per-day sulfuric acid plant
Location/Access
Situated in the heart of the Texas panhandle, the McKee refinery has access to crude oil from northern Texas, Oklahoma, southwestern Kansas and eastern Colorado through an extensive network of crude oil pipelines, making it one of the most well-connected plants in our system. This refinery is joined by third-party pipelines to major crude oil centers in Cushing, Oklahoma, and Midland, Texas. The McKee refinery also has pipeline access at Wichita Falls, Texas, to major third-party pipelines that transport crude oil from the Texas Gulf Coast and from major West Texas oil fields into the mid-continent region.
