The Valero Energy Foundation supports many nonprofit agencies. Listed here are just a few of the ways that the Foundation makes a positive difference in the lives of others:
United Way
The employees of Valero participate in the United Way campaign every year, pledging millions of dollars to help nonprofit community organizations. Valero consistently boasts a 90 percent participation rate with the highest per-capita contributions in the nation. Because of its significant contributions to United Way and its commitment to all of its communities, Valero has twice received the Spirit of America Award, United Way’s highest national honor.

Muscular Dystrophy Association
Valero’s Corner Stores raise millions of dollars each year for the MDA. In 2009, Valero’s retail employees raised a record-breaking $1.6 million for the MDA.
Children’s Miracle Network
Through a fundraising effort in Valero’s U.S. retail stores in 2009, the company’s employees raised over $1.5 million for Children's Miracle Network. These donations will help children's hospitals in 13 different cities across the country.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Every year, Valero’s official cycling team, Velo Valero, has participated in the Bike MS: Valero Bike to the Beach, a 150-mile, two-day bike ride from San Antonio to Corpus Christi, Texas, helping to raise millions of dollars for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2009, the ride has a new name and a new destination. The Bike MS: Valero 2009 Alamo Ride to the River presented by H-E-B began this year in San Antonio and wound past historic Texas landmarks including the Alamo and through Fort Sam Houston. This picturesque ride had the participants overnighting in New Braunfels, Texas, before their return trip to San Antonio. The Valero team consists of hundreds of employees and friends, and is always the largest participating group. Velo Valero was the largest fundraising team for the Bike MS: Valero Bike to the Beach and its successor, Ride to the River, for four consecutive years. The team helped raise more than $2 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Lone Star Chapter in 2008 and we are well on our way to achieving that goal again for 2009.
