2010 Highlights
  • The 2010 Valero Alamo Bowl match-up of the No. 1 passing attack in the Big Ten in Michigan State vs. the No. 1 passing offense in the Big 12 in Texas Tech promised some fireworks and the game didn't disappoint the 64,757 fans who packed the Alamodome.
  • After a back-and-forth battle for three quarters, Michigan State took a 28-27 lead in the fourth and appeared to get a break when Tech quarterback Taylor Potts left the game after injuring his hand. He left with an Alamo Bowl-record 372 yards and two touchdowns. But, in true Red Raider fashion, there was a comeback waiting to happen. With Tech down 31-27, Steven Sheffield marched the Red Raiders downfield in eight plays, the last an 11-yard touchdown pass to Detron Lewis taking the lead 34-31. Baron Batch tacked on a 25-yard touchdown run late in the game to seal the victory.
  • For the fifth consecutive year the Valero Alamo Bowl came down to the wire as the Texas Tech Red Raiders upended the Michigan State Spartans in a 41-31 victory.
  • The next Valero Alamo Bowl will feature teams from the Big 12 and Pac-10 conferences.
