The Valero Texas Open has been a San Antonio tradition since 1922. The third oldest PGA TOUR tournament, it attracts golf’s brightest stars and an international audience through coverage by CBS and The Golf Channel. In conjunction with the Valero Benefit for Children, millions of dollars are raised to help support children’s charities. 2009 Winner: Zach Johnson
Iowa native Zach Johnson won the Valero Texas Open for a second straight year. Johnson took the lead in a dramatic sudden-death playoff during the May 17 Open held at the La Cantera Resort Course in San Antonio.

A Record of Success
The 2009 Valero Texas Open was again one of the most successful in the tournament’s 87-year history. Together with the Benefit for Children Golf Classic, the Valero Texas Open contributed a record total of $8 million to charity, continuing the tradition of being among the most charitable tournaments on the PGA Tour.
