The Valero Port Arthur Refinery won a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency award for its wastewater-sludge recycling success as a participant in the agency’s National Partnership for Environmental Priorities (NPEP) program.
Wind Turbine Environment
Environmental stewardship is a core value at Valero. The company has made significant investments in environmental initiatives demonstrating its commitment to a cleaner environment. For example, Valero:
  • Invested more than $5 billion in environmental projects in recent years to produce cleaner-burning fuels and significantly reduce emissions
  • Became the first traditional refiner to enter ethanol production by acquiring seven plants in 2009
  • Built wind-powered turbines to improve energy efficiency and reduce Valero’s carbon footprint

  • Valero has the most refineries certified as "Star Sites," the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s highest recognition of facilities that exceed safety expectations under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
  • The company achieves among the lowest recordable-injury rates in the industry, drawing upon its knowledgeable work force and collective experience.
