Hurricane Rita Update Statement from Mary Rose Brown, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications
San Antonio, TX September 30, 2005

Our Houston refinery is at maximum capacity.
Our Texas City refinery is at slightly reduced rates because our third-party hydrogen supplier has not yet been able to resume normal operations.  (Crude rate is 203,000 BPD vs. 210,000 BPD and  FCC rate is 62,000 BPD vs. 80,000 BPD.)  We expect to be at max rates by late this weekend.
Our Krotz Springs & Ardmore refineries are currently at minimum rates due to crude availability & pipeline issues.  Our Krotz Springs refinery is currently running at 48,000 BPD vs. 85,000 BPD and our Ardmore refinery is running at 49,000 BPD vs. 85,000 BPD. Crude production from the Gulf is shut in, which is restricting crude availability through the ExxonMobil pipeline that feeds our Krotz Springs refinery.  The Ardmore refinery is at minimum rates as it awaits crude from the Nederland pipeline, which is shut down due to power outages in the area.
Repairs are in the works at our Port Arthur refinery.  We are still hopeful that we can implement repairs and start up the refinery with a month.
All our other refineries are at maximum capacity.
The Houston Operations Group reports that as of today 228 retail stores out of the 231 Houston area stores are open, 206 with gasoline.
