In recognition of their consistent and extensive community support, Valero’s Three Rivers Refinery has earned “Volunteer of the Year” honors from the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce.  On hand to accept the award at the Chamber’s annual banquet were Valero Volunteer Council officers Lana Schmidt-Morris (Engineering Associate), Albert Ruiz (Maintenance Supervisor) and Scott Carroll (Senior Project Engineer).

Among the refinery’s many outreach initiatives in 2008:

• Nursing home visits
• Boys & Girls Club events
• Live Oak County “Relay for Life”
• “Support Our Troops” programs
• Live Oak County Food Distribution
• July 4th Pancake Breakfast
• “Back to School” Supply Drive
• Christmas Angels Golf Tournament and gift project
• South Texas Children’s Home stocking stuffer project

Refinery volunteers devoted an estimated 4,400 hours to volunteer projects in 2008.
