Valero has 85,000 barrels per day (BPD) of asphalt production capacity in the United States. The company has seven asphalt-producing refineries making it the second-largest U.S. refiner of asphalt, which is the No. 1 recycled product in America. An environmentally sound refiner, Valero has a strong commitment to implementing voluntary environmental initiatives that exceed government regulations and using state-of-the-art environmental technology at its facilities.
Valero markets performance-grade paving asphalt, quality roofing asphalt, packaged built-up roofing asphalt, specialty-grade industrial asphalt and polymer modified asphalt throughout the United States. And Valero’s asphalt capabilities are highly respected in the industry due to the company’s safety standards, great products and excellent customer service. Valero is a member of the Asphalt Institute and the National Asphalt Paving Association (NAPA).
Valero’s asphalt team has worked on many high-profile projects including the New Jersey Turnpike, the San Francisco and Oakland Airports, the California Speedway and the Los Angeles Port Authority. Also notable is that the New Jersey Turnpike was the first winner of the Perpetual Pavement Award given by the Asphalt Pavement Alliance. The award honored the turnpike’s asphalt pavement because after 50 years of use, motorists are still traveling on the original pavement structure.
