The name "Valero" was chosen in honor of Texas' most famous landmark - "The Alamo", originally named Mission San Antonio de Valero. The name stands for "valor" and "value" which is what this company stands for, especially when it comes to quality service and products.

Valero is one of the nation’s top refining and marketing companies with combined revenues that rank us among the top 15 of the Fortune 500. Based in San Antonio, TX, Valero now has approximately 21,000 employees and a system comprised of 17 refineries producing premium clean burning fuels at a capacity of approximately 3.1 million barrels per day. In addition the company has a mid-stream logistics system that supports Valero's refining and marketing operations.  Valero is the second largest asphalt producer and the fourth largest paraffinic base oil producer in the United States.

Valero's lubricant base oils and process oils are produced in the Northeastern United States at the Paulsboro Refinery, situated on 950 acres in southern New Jersey, just 15 miles south of Philadelphia. Its position on the Delaware River allows the refinery to receive a variety of feedstocks including sour crudes such as Arab Light, Arab Heavy, Oriente and Kirkuk. Much of the plant feedstock is determined by Paulsboro’s lubricant base oil production needs.

The plant produces over 12,000 barrels per day of highly refined paraffinic and aromatic oils suitable for use in a wide variety of lubricant and process applications. New state-of-the-art tank truck and rail car loading facilities and a professional on-site dedicated lubes Customer Service team ensures that customer orders are filled accurately and on-time. In addition, the Paulsboro Refinery's continued commitment to product quality, improvement and customer satisfaction was recently demonstrated by the successful certification against the new ISO 9001: 2000 international quality standards requirements. The plant has also recently been awarded Occupational Safety and Health Association's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program Star Site status recognizing the best safety programs in the industry.
