Overview

The Riga plant, located on 78 acres about 30 miles south of Ann Arbor, produces ethanol, distillers grains livestock feed and fuel- and feed-grade corn oil. With original startup in February 2007, the plant was acquired by Valero in November 2018.

The plant buys corn from farmers within approximately 75 miles.

Volunteer Hours

Employees and Families annually log hundreds of volunteer hours for a variety of events and charities. The plant sponsored the 2019 Blissfield River Raisin Festival, an annual event that serves as a platform for local nonprofits and charities.

Benefiting Children

In 2019, the plant distributed more than $37,000 from the Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children to local charities nominated by employees, including Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee, Catherine Cobb Safe House, Family Counseling and Shelter Services of Monroe County and Jasmynn's.

United Way Giving

In the plant's first-ever campaign in 2019, employee pledges surpassed $24,000, with a company match projected to bring total donations to approximately $37,000.
