Valero’s Peru employees are embracing the company’s culture of commitment to the community, recently completing their first event as Valero Volunteers.

More than 120 volunteers, including invited representatives from governmental agencies such as the city of Callao, the Callao Port Authority (a branch of the Peruvian Navy) and the Marquez police precinct, dedicated a Saturday morning to putting the finishing touches on cleaning up the beach behind Valero’s Callao Marine Terminal.

Over several days, terminal employees and this group of volunteers collected and disposed of more than 500 tons of garbage that had accumulated on the beach over time.

Valero employees were excited to put on their boots, gloves and safety glasses and work shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow employees and government agency partners.

They are already looking forward to the next volunteer opportunity, when they will once again have the opportunity to invite their friends, neighbors and community members to work with them on bettering the local community.
