In honor of Rebuilding Together (RT)’s 40th anniversary, a special celebration was recently held commemorating the work accomplished over the past 40 years. Celebration attendees included Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Texas State Senator, Carol Alvarado, with Valero as a presenting sponsor of the event.
RT’s mission is “Repairing Homes. Revitalizing Communities. Rebuilding Lives.” Nearly 15,000 homes have been rebuilt in the Houston market over the last four decades, which averages one family served every day for forty years.
As part of the 40th anniversary recognition, volunteers from Valero and Bay Ltd. helped refurbish the Cantera family home in the Manchester neighborhood, across the street from Valero's Houston Refinery. The Canteras have lived in Manchester for more than 35 years.
Volunteers replaced siding, window frames, window screens, stairs, painted the entire home and rebuilt the water heater closet. All of the work was provided at no cost to the Cantera family.
