The Albion plant, located on 107 acres about 50 miles southwest of Norfolk, produces ethanol, distillers grains livestock feed and fuel- and feed-grade corn oil. With original startup in October 2007, the plant was acquired by Valero in April 2009.
The plant buys corn from local farmers through Cargill within a 90-mile radius.
Employees and families annually log more than 1,700 volunteer hours, for events including Habitat for Humanity, Chamber of Commerce activities and flood recovery assistance, including sand bagging and cleanup, evacuation and donation of food and other basic needs.
In 2019, the plant distributed $35,000 from the Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children to local charities nominated by employees, including Blessings in a Backpack Inc., Boone Central TeamMates, Farm 4 A Cure Inc., Nebraska Children's Home Society, Nebraska Community Foundation, Stephanie's Miracles in Loving Equine and TeamMates Mentoring Program of Fullerton.
Employee pledges, additional donations and a company match totaled approximately $51,000 in donations to the local United Way for 2019.

The Albion plant has been recognized under the Efficient Producer Program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for superior process efficiency – through reduced on-site energy consumption, increased fuel output and/or use of biomass or biogas from certain sources to reduce process energy greenhouse gas emissions.
