The St. Charles Refinery's major process units were built in the early 1980s or later, making this refinery one of the newest in the United States. Since Valero's acquisition of the refinery in 2003, more than $5 billion has been invested, making the plant one of the company's more complex refineries.
  • Gasoline, distillates and other light products represent approximately 80 percent of product slate

  • Located on approximately 1,000 acres in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, along the Mississippi River, approximately 15 miles upstream of New Orleans with strategic feedstock and product transportation corridors

  • The Diamond Green Diesel plant, adjacent to the refinery, is a joint venture between Valero Energy Corporation and Darling Ingredients Inc.; this facility is boosting its annual production capacity to approximately 18,000 BPD and produces environmentally friendly renewable diesel

  • Access to the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) where it can receive crude oil through pipeline or from five Valero owned and operated marine docks along the Mississippi River

  • Refined products distributed through Colonial and Plantation pipelines to southern and eastern U.S. markets

  • Voluntary Protection Program Star Site designation in 2017-- the highest plant-safety recognition by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and affiliated state agencies
  • Past State Lantern Award, nominated by St. Charles Parish president, recognizing Louisiana-based manufacturers who demonstrate true quality in their work and genuine commitment to their local communities

  • Multiple environmental leadership awards from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and the Louisiana Air and Waste Management Association

  • Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) highest recognition, the 2017 Pelican Award in recognition of the company's outstanding achievement in the industry and its contributions to the state
