Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and Guadalupe Valley marked 50 years of helping families achieve homeownership by dedicating 15 new homes at a recent ceremony.

One of those homes, Valero’s 19th sponsored build in the Pope Leo Village neighborhood on San Antonio’s East Side, was awarded to first-time homeowner Sabrina Villegas. Construction began on January 31, with the Villegas family working side by side with Valero volunteers each Saturday for more than four months. From framing to the final piece of sod, approximately 183 volunteers contributed more than 1,000 hours to bring the home to life.

This effort reflects Valero’s culture of caring and the strength of teamwork, as employees came together to support a family and invest in the community we call home.

Over the past 50 years, Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio and Guadalupe Valley has built more than 1,500 homes locally, helping thousands of recipients like the Villegas family live out the organization’s goal to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Thank you to all the Valero volunteers, family members, and friends who contributed their time and effort to make this opportunity possible for the Villegas family.
