​​​​​​Valero’s Bloomingburg Plant Hosts Agricultural Safety Day for Local Farmers and Emergency Responders

Valero’s Bloomingburg ethanol plant recently held its first Agricultural Safety Day for the local farming community and first responders. Dan Neenan, Director of the National Education Center for Agriculture Safety kicked off the day with grain bin safety protocols followed by Chief Ralph Stegbauer who guided the event attendees on what to expect if the fire department was called out for a grain bin rescue and what they could do around the farm to help first responders if an incident occurred.

Following the morning agricultural session, firefighters, EMS personnel and emergency responders from Washington Court House, Bloomingburg, Jefferson Township, Concord Green Township, Wayne Township, and the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency were also provided grain bin safety training.

Attendees received hands-on training using a grain bin simulator where practice rescues were performed.

This agricultural safety training is one way Valero is working with the local community to strengthen farmer engagement and provide additional resources for our agricultural partners and emergency responders.​
