For nearly 20 years, Valero volunteers have teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to help construct houses and help families become first-time homeowners. From raising house frames to planting the last tree in the yard, volunteers have committed to working long hours through every type of weather to complete a dream home for a well-deserving family.
In partnership with Habitat, Valero has been positively impacting communities across Texas.
At Texas City, the refinery co-sponsored a house, with employees volunteering their time and talents to complete it. Recently they started working on another house with Habitat.
Earlier this year, a financial contribution was made to the Bee County Habitat from the Three Rivers Refinery. Employees are scheduled to help build a house this fall with the Habitat chapter in Beeville.
This spring, San Antonio volunteers dedicated more than 1,000 hours of labor to ensure a new home would be completed in time for Corina Ann Sanchez and her family. One volunteer expressed her appreciation for how organized the event is and the way the Habitat crew always educates everyone and works with integrity. This marks the 18th home Valero has built with Habitat.
The last day of the build, known as “dedication day,” the team worked on landscaping and put the finishing touches on the Sanchez home. Afterward, the first-time homeowners received their certificates of completion, a bible, and a toolbox for their new homes.
Throughout the years, several Valero locations have provided financial or volunteer support to Habitat chapters in their local communities: Albion, Amarillo, Ardmore, Benicia, Bloomingburg, Corpus Christi, Memphis, Three Rivers, Texas City, San Antonio, Welcome and Wilmington.
