One of the most popular places in Charles City, Iowa, is not the newest restaurant or movie theater in town, but rather a child care facility that’s been helping children learn and develop the skills needed for a successful future in school and life.

The TLC Learning Center provides a safe learning environment for children ages six weeks through the 5th grade. The Center also has before- and after-school programs, as well as summer programs for children, that include field trips in the community.

Since 2010, the TLC Learning Center has been a recipient of the Valero Benefit for Children (BFC), receiving close to $75,000 in funding. Throughout the years, the facility has expanded the center and has been able to purchase much-needed items such as cribs, sleeping cots, books and STEM supplies. Recently, the center was able to resurface its playground.

As the only licensed child care facility in Charles City, in addition to helping the community, many Renewables employees take their children to TLC, expressing what it means to have this center and how important it is to support this nonprofit.
