Families from the Manchester and Smith Addition communities, near Valero’s Houston Refinery, kicked off their summer with a fun-filled volunteer event hosted by the refinery. The fourth annual Community Carne Asada event, formerly known as the Summer Bash, welcomed more than 130 guests to the Hartman Community Center to enjoy games, STEM crafts, food, and camaraderie.
Valero also invited community partners such as the United Way of Greater Houston, Houston Parks & Recreation, and Community Family Centers, and others to share information about free programs and services available to local families.
Team Valero made this event a success. From helping kids make lava lamps to preparing hundreds of tacos for hungry guests, Valero volunteers helped strengthen community connections and create a memorable start to summer for our neighbors.
Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time and talents to support this event. Their efforts demonstrate Valero’s culture of caring in action. Community events like this provide meaningful opportunities for employees to give back while supporting the company’s goal of contributing at least 24 volunteer hours each year.
