A team of Valero Volunteers at the Montreal East Terminal built 10 planter boxes to grow fruits and vegetables at the Montreal East Community Gardens. The community gardens are an urban agriculture project by the Montreal East Food Network and have been supported by Valero since 2018.

The Montreal East Community Gardens was established by ten public, private and community partners, along with committed volunteers. The network takes a comprehensive approach to the issue of food security, from providing information on the educational aspect of nutrition to making fresh quality food available to residents in eastern Montreal. Over the years, Valero has contributed a total of $150,000 to the Montreal East Food Network.

With Valero’s support, the community gardens tripled in size from 4,305 to 12,916 square feet, helping to provide more fresh produce to Life of Hope Action. Valero also provided $15,000 to this organization for fuel costs for food deliveries.
