The East Bank Bridge Park in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, is a special place for all ages of the community to gather for recreation and socialization. Recently, Valero, elected officials and community members celebrated the reopening of the newly renovated facility that’s guaranteed to bring much enjoyment for years to come.

It had been 15 years since any updates were made to the park, and after sustaining damage from Hurricane Ida many things were in need of repair and replacement. As a community supporter and neighbor, Valero St. Charles Refinery contributed $500,000 toward enhancements to the park. Construction began last November.

Today, the park has new synthetic turf infields on both ball fields featuring the Valero logo, freshly sodded outfields with an irrigation system, upgraded fencing, backstops and dugouts. It also has new lighting fixtures, two new tennis courts, two pickleball courts, a batting cage, and a basketball court.

“Over the past 22 years in St. Charles Parish, Valero has invested tens of millions of dollars aimed at supporting children, families, and local organizations. We take pride in being a true community partner, enhancing the quality of life in the communities where our employees live and work,” said St. Charles Refinery Vice President & General Manager Leslie Sullivan at the official reopening event held recently.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony local officials gave remarks about the project and afterward everyone was treated to the first baseball games played on the new Valero field. The East Bank Bridge Park is back open and residents can once again enjoy this beautiful space in their community.
